Communications Project Coordinator

BETAH seeks a full-time Communications Project Coordinator to support a federal client. The position involves providing support to the Project Manager with opportunities to assist with developing health campaign material, organizing training, managing quality assurance, and implementing a variety of other communications tasks such as writing and social media management. While project management experience is not a requirement, the ideal candidate hopes to pursue related skills via this opportunity.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field and 7+ years’ experience [or] Master’s degree in Communications or related field of study and 5+ years’ experience [or] at least 11 years’ experience in a field related to position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as backup to the Project Manager and secondary point of contact for the client
  • Co-develop strategies and content for products such as blogs, fact sheets, and infographics
  • Research topics to inform a variety of communications products
  • Edit materials (copyediting and proofreading) for style, substance, and plain language
  • Format documents for effective, in-brand, visually pleasing presentation
  • Maintain style and process guides
  • Co-manage website content
  • Support social media activities
  • Prepare email marketing messages via GovDelivery
  • Perform basic Section 508 compliance for accessibility (training provided)
  • Facilitate brainstorming, status, and development meetings
  • Assist with client meetings, trainings, and events to include notetaking
  • Deepen familiarity with client-relevant topics such as the disability and aging communities
  • Stay abreast of communications strategies and related federal guidelines

Skills/Qualifications
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability work successfully as a team member and individual contributor
  • Excellent organizational skills to include attention to detail and effective prioritization
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and team members while meeting client-driven deadlines
  • Skill in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft 365 (emphasis: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Basic familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube
